Position:      INPATIENT CHILD PSYCHIATRISTT

Location:     Ontario, Canada

 

General Summary   This prominent children's hospital in Ontario is seeking a junior or mid-career level child psychiatrist to join their multidisciplinary Acute Care Inpatient Mental Health Unit, which specializes in the acute inpatient care of children and adolescents with mental health problems.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities   The unit has 19 beds and this full-time position is shared with two other full-time psychiatrists. The Inpatient Unit multi-disciplinary team comprises nursing staff, child and youth care workers, two psychologists, three social workers, an occupational therapist, and a .5 FTE Family Medicine physician.  The work involves psychiatric assessments and brief treatment of children and youth with a variety of psychiatric disorders. The position of Medical Director of the inpatient unit may be available for qualified applicants. 

Required Skills and Abilities  The successful candidate will have had training and/or experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, with Royal College certification or an equivalent.  Inpatient experience as an attending physician is preferred. Some administrative experience will be required for the Medical Director position.   

Minimum Level of Preparation and Training   MD from an accredited institution; Royal College Certification in Psychiatry or equivalent; child psychiatry experience, training, or certification from the Royal College or equivalent body; must meet criteria for an academic appointment in Psychiatry at the local University's Faculty of Medicine. Bilingualism (English/French) is desirable.

Remuneration; Vacation/Conference Time  $260,000-$350,000/year (remuneration varies depending on university rank, academic and clinical productivity); 6 weeks paid vacation; 2 weeks paid conference time; financial support for conference attendance. This position carries a stipend in addition to the regular pay.

Position:      Full-time and Part-time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists

Location:     Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

Saskatoon Health Region, in partnership with the University of Saskatchewan, College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, is seeking applications for full time and part time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists. 

 
The successful candidate will hold appointments with the Saskatoon Health Region and University of Saskatchewan, Department of Psychiatry, possess a strong team approach and join a collegial group practice of 10 Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists who enjoy a broad scope of practice including outpatients, acute care and shared call responsibilities.  The Department offers a Child and Adolescent subspecialty training program and the successful candidate will be involved in this subspecialty training program, the general training program, and medical student education. Preference will be given to candidates with Royal College certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and who have infant and inpatient practice experience.
 
Compensation:
Candidates with Royal College Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry:
  • Contract: $364,000 - $412,000; or fee for service if successful candidate prefers
  • On call stipend is outside the contract. On call remuneration varies in accordance with variation in the on call rotation
Candidates without Royal College Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry:
  • fee for service 
  • on call stipend is outside fee for service earnings. On call remuneration varies in accordance with variation in the on call rotation

Qualifications:  Candidates must hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Preference will be given to candidates with Royal College certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Position:      Full-time Psychiatrist

St. Joseph's Care Group in Thunder Bay, Ontario is currently recruiting for permanent full-time Psychiatrists.  Preferred candidates will be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and will qualify for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Additional opportunities exist with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Specialized qualifications in addiction medicine, geriatrics, child and adolescent, or developmental disabilities or their equivalency would be an asset.

 

Wages/Benefits: $330,000 to $400,000 per annum dependent upon licensure and certification and on other duties such as on call and teaching. There is an optional benefits allowance, employer-paid pension contributions, a retention bonus, and additional compensation opportunities available. A variety of compensation options, including relocation expenses are available and can be negotiated. Northern Recruitment and Retention Incentives may be available.
