Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to respond to the CACAP 38th Annual Meeting Call for Abstracts. Your participation will help make the meeting in Halifax an academic and social success. The meeting will be held at the Westin Nova Scotian, Halifax from September 16th to 18th, 2018. The theme is “Challenges in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry: Caring for Populations with Complex Needs.”

We are soliciting papers, posters, and workshops on challenges in child and adolescent psychiatry when caring for populations with complex needs. We also encourage submissions that address CACAP’s broad-based goals to advance knowledge in clinical research, education, and advocacy.  Accepted submissions on topics related to education and advocacy may be sponsored by the Education Committee and the Advocacy Committee, respectively.
Below are listed the types of submissions for the 2018 conference. Please note that Poster presentations are considered as important as oral presentations, as we value all types of presentations equally.

  1. Research Symposium
  2. Academic Perspectives
  3. Workshop
  4. Special Interest Study Group
  5. Poster

We particularly encourage submissions from Members-in-Training, early career CACAP members, and early career and trainee non-MD investigators who are eligible for a best oral or for a best poster presentation award ($500 each). There is also an Early Career Community Intervention / Access to Care Award for a presentation or poster by an early career CACAP member. We also sponsor up to 10 travel awards for Members-in-Training ($500 each). No separate award application is necessary.
Accepted submissions will be short-listed for awards based on the submission materials. Please note that only CACAP Members are eligible for awards. Membership status must be confirmed by the time submission results are announced in April 2018.
Accepted submissions will also be compiled into a bilingual abstract supplement of the Journal of the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

This meeting program will be intellectually stimulating and scientifically exciting. We look forward to your participation!
Best wishes,
