Call for nominations from the Association of Professors of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of Canada

The Dan Offord Resident Research Award $1000 (+ up to $2000)

and

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Resident Travel Award $200

Dan Offord Resident Research Award

This award was developed by APCAPC to commemorate the work that Dr. Dan Offord had done in the area of child and adolescent psychiatry in Canada. The goal of the award is to encourage and recognize research by resident trainees in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Eligibility:

A resident in one of the accredited residency programs in Canada, including CAP subspecialty trainees and those in a clinical investigator/research stream.

Criteria for submission of an academic manuscript:

1.     The academic manuscript might include an empirical paper, a paper on health services research or issues relating to care delivery, a review, a meta-analysis or educational research.

2.      The topic must be relevant to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

3.      It should be an original work.

4.      The sample must largely or entirely include/involve children and/or adolescents.

5.     If this was multi-authored, we need a letter from the senior author identifying the specific role of the resident (e.g.involved in original hypothesis, collection of data, analysis of data, etc.).

6.      Other things being equal, Canadian content is preferred.

7.      Can be ongoing project, but still requires abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusion.

The awardee will receive a $1000.00 award and the Association of Professors of Child Psychiatry of Canada (APCAPC) would provide up to $2000 travel stipend for the annual conference of the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry(CACAP).

Nominations must be submitted to Debi Follett at Debi.Follett@iwk.nshealth.ca by June 30, 2024 for review by the Award Committee. Included in the packages should be a current CV and letter of support from the resident’s supervisor.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Resident Travel Award

This award was developed by APCAPC to support attendance and participation of child and adolescent psychiatry trainees in the annual Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Conference with the goal of continuing to grow engagement in our national organization.

Eligibility:

A resident in one of the accredited residency programs in Canada,i ncluding CAP subspecialty trainees and those in a clinical investigator/research stream.

Consideration Criteria:  Residents who do not have conference travel funding through University or residency program.  Engagement in CACAP initiatives or conference presentations.

Application:Interested eligible residents submit a one-page self-nomination for this award.

The Association of Professors of Child Psychiatry of Canada(APCAPC) will provide up to $2000 travel stipend for the annual conference of the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CACAP) to the successful applicant.

Nominations must be submitted to Debi Follett at Debi.Follett@iwk.nshealth.ca by June 30, 2024 for review by the Award Committee.
